COURGETTE BLOSSOMS
New label formed by Hollywood personnel is ripe with inspiration

(LOS ANGELES, CA) – August 24, 2005 – Critically-acclaimed, independent recording artist Judith Owen, actor/humorist Harry Shearer, and Owen’s manager Bambi Moe’, have formed Courgette Records. The label is being distributed by Warner Music Group’s Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA). Courgette’s first release is Owen’s full-length CD Lost And Found due in stores on September 13, 2005.

Courgette’s deal with ADA includes U.S. distribution of Owen’s repertoire of CDs – she has five including Lost And Found - and Shearer’s catalog of comedy/satire projects. “Down the road we aspire for Courgette to be home to unique soundtrack opportunities that include theater and film”, explains Moe’, former Vice President of Music for Walt Disney Television Animation. There will also be an emphasis on digital distribution as all three principals agree that it is a key component in the future of the music business.

"We're delighted to welcome Courgette Records to the ADA family," said ADA President Andy Allen. "This trio of individuals brings a wealth of experience, fresh perspectives and forward-thinking savvy to the table. Bambi Moe’s 20 years in the business speaks volumes for her integrity, tenacity and ability to maximize opportunities. As an artist, Judith Owen has all of the elements we look for -- inspired songwriting, beautifully crafted and well-produced albums, striking packaging, distinctive vocal styling, and a very strong live show. Harry Shearer is one of the most beloved voices of pop culture. His work on "The Simpsons", public radio’s Le Show, and Spinal Tap have made him a recognizable name and a very familiar voice to millions of people. In fact, the name ‘Courgette’, British word for zucchini, is a wink and a smile to Tap fans who will recall the infamous airport scene with Derek Smalls.”

ADA was established in 1993 to focus on the independent music market, where some of the biggest music acts have built their initial followings. Today, ADA is recognized as the leading distributor of independent record companies, handling labels such as Epitaph, Matador, Saddle Creek, SubPop, Beggars Group, Touch and Go, and Comedy Central.
